Prices vary around for some models, and usable battery capacity should provide an additional kWh range across a few more miles of board.
★Ford has released details of the 2022 Mustang Mach-E.
★It receives updates on its battery pack, price, colors and equipment.
★The 2022 Mach-E is now available to order, but delivery will not begin until February 2022.
Our Ford of the Year winner Ford Mustang Mac-E is getting some updates for 2022. In addition to pricing some models and changing the color palette, the most notable change is increasing the capacity of the usable battery. Increase its range. The standard battery pack goes from 68.0 to 70.0 kWh of usable capacity, while the extended battery pack increases from 88.0 to 91.0 kWh.
Ford says the EPA is not re-testing the 2022 Mach-E, so official figures will not change from current figures, ranging from 211 miles to 305 miles for the standard range AWD model for the RWD California Route 1 model. But based on the capacity increase, we would expect that the updated 2022 model is the equivalent of the 2021 AWD extended range car that we tested to go an additional 8 miles in our 75-mph Real-World Highway test. The 2021 model achieved 250 miles on that test, compared to the EPA-rated 270 mile range. We look forward to running the 2022 model in the same test of how it works.
We asked Ford if it was possible that these battery updates could be pushed to the existing 2021 Mach-E model via over-the-air updates and we would update this story as we get more information.
Other updates include a new option for all-wheel drive at the California Route 1 trim level that was previously only available with rear-wheel drive. This trim now comes standard with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while the performance-based GT now has a black roof as standard (it was previously the $ 385 option).
While the original price of the Select model remains the same, Mach 43,995, the Mach-E Premium goes from 500 to $ 49,200 and the California Route 1 from $ 375 to $ 51,875. The more powerful GT model is priced at $ 1005 and now starts at $ 59,995. It is standard with all-wheel drive, which is a $ 2700 option for all other models.
The color palette is a bit different, as iced blue silver replaces metallic iconic silver and carbonized gray is no longer available. Grabber Blue and Cyber Orange, previously exclusive to GT, are now more widely available across the lineup. And a new Ice White version is available which we have detailed earlier.
Orders for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E are now open on the Ford website, but be prepared to wait. The company estimates that delivery of the Select and California Route 1 models will begin in February 2022, while deliveries of the Premium and GT models will begin in April 2022.
