The Indian government has banned hundreds of Chinese applications in the past two years after political relations with China deteriorated. The list of banned apps includes the names of several popular and widely used applications. But recent reports have shown that relations between the two countries have deteriorated further. According to the tweet of news agency ANI, the Indian government is going to ban 54 more Chinese apps for the sake of security and safety of the country. Although no official list of banned apps (i.e. which applications will be banned) has not been found yet.
However, ANI’s tweet says that these 54 Chinese applications include –
Beauty Camera: Sweet Selfie HD,
Beauty Camera – Selfie Camera,
Equalizer & Bass Booster,
CamCard for SalesForce Ent,
Island 2: Ashes of Time Lite,
Viva Video Editor,
Tencent Driver,
Onmyoji Chess,
Onmyoji Arena,
Well-known apps like AppLock and Dual Space Lite.
Earlier, India banned hundreds of popular Chinese apps like PUBG Mobile, TikTok, Weibo, WeChat, AliExpress. In November 2020, the central government issued an order under section 69A of the IT Act, blocking access to 43 mobile applications. The reason given is that extreme measures have been taken to ban these apps for engaging in activities that are detrimental to India’s sovereignty and integrity, India’s defense, state security and public order.
Earlier, on June 29, 2020, India blocked access to 59 mobile applications for MEITY and on September 2, 116 more apps were banned under Section 79A of the IT Act. Needless to say, the bitterness in the relations between the two countries is increasing day by day and in future India will be seen to take more such steps in the future.
