The new Suzuki scooter is expected to compete with the TVS Ntorq 125.
Suzuki India has released a teaser of its upcoming scooter aimed at youngsters. It could be a younger, more sporty version of the Suzuki Access 125 and Burgman Street 125.
- This is a sporty new Suzuki scooter
- Expected based on Access 125 platform
- Go opposite the TVS Ntorq 125
New Suzuki Scooter: Design
The teaser reveals some details about the scooter, such as its sporty styling elements. The front apron, for example, has a centrally mounted LED headlight with a prominent crease line and an integrated DRL. The headlights are in the same position as the TVS Ntorq 125. Turn indicators are mounted on the handlebar cowl and appear to be halogen bulb units. A small windscreen sits on top of this cowl.
The tail section with a split triangular LED tail-light looks as sporty as the front edge. Suzuki says the design is “motorcycle-inspired” and we look forward to seeing what the new scooter looks like.
It will also get a dual-tone paint scheme and it looks like Suzuki has chosen a bold new color to appeal to young people.
New Suzuki Scooter: Chassis
We expect the new Suzuki scooter to sit on the same platform as the Access 125 and Burgman Street 125. It’s a proven platform and we’ve got to offer it a good balance between ride and management. That said, the 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheel set-up looks weird, especially because of its spacious bodywork in Bergman. It remains to be seen whether the Suzuki will include a 12-inch rear wheel, with significant engineering changes to match the scooter’s sporty intentions, or stick to the 10-inch rear wheel.
New Suzuki Scooter: Engine and Features
The new scooter is expected to be powered by a tried and tested 124cc, single-cylinder engine with access – which produces 8.7hp at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm – and we love this powerful and efficient unit. However, keeping in mind the sporty nature of the upcoming scooter, Suzuki may be able to extract a bit more power from this engine. Especially since its direct competitor, the TVS Ntorq 125 Race XP, does more than 10hp.
In terms of features, the new scooter gets an all-digital dash with Bluetooth connection, similar to the Access and Bergman.
Lunch date
The new Suzuki scooter will launch on November 18. Stay tuned for more.
